ELECTION DATES


Voting Dates: August 1, 2009 through October 31, 2009.

Voting will be by sealed paper ballot mailed to the independent election monitor, the Honolulu League of Women Voters.

Voter registration is not required to vote.

Ballots will be available at various locations and will be available on this website August 1st  2009.

IMPORTANT PROVISIONS OF THE RESTORATION CONSTITUTION INCLUDE:

  • Return of all lands in the Hawaiian Islands to the ownership of the descendants of the original Kanaka Maoli owners and users of the lands prior to the invasion and overthrow of the Kingdom's government in 1893.
  • Voids all foreclosures in process on date the Constitution is adopted, and prohibits the commencement of new foreclosures through December 31, 2010.
  • Sets maximum residential mortgage loan interest at 7.5% and modifies all existing residential mortgage interest rates to a maximum of 7.5%.
  • Establishes the minimum wage for all workers at $12.50 per hour.
  • Abolishes all income taxes.
  • Real estate taxes on residential properties may not exceed one-third of the tax rate applied to business properties, and prohibits increases of residential properties assessment value until sold.
  • For an elected President and Vice President and for a Parliament made up of Na Kupuna Council (5 members per island) and a Citizens Assembly (12 members per island).
